Automotive

Students are studying to gain a Level 1 nationally accredited Competency Standard in the Automotive Vehicle Servicing area.  Provides an insight and involvement in basic mechanical skills.

Doorways to Construction (D2C)

A competency based program that will provide nationally recognised qualifications that count towards an apprenticeship/traineeship in the building and construction industry.

 

 

Host School:  Minlaton District School

Duration:  

Full year

Work Placement:  

Required all year to "happen" on a Wednesday.

SACE Units: 

Depends on how the school chooses to result student.

Comments:  

Students are required to work one day per week on structured work placement and are responsible for their own transport arrangements. Students spend one day per week out of school in SWL and work in teams on a rotational basis with Tape Homes at Coobowie  (this is mandatory). Students must undertake an Induction Program before participating in SWL which involves Induction, White Card and Job Safety Analysis Training.  This is a program delivered by Minlaton District School in conjunction with Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) and local businesses located on the SYP. Students must apply for positions available.

Hospitality (Kitchen Operations)

This course will include core units needed for hospitality training and also develop skills needed for basic kitchen activities e.g. organising, preparing and presenting food.  Students will develop the foundation skills and knowledge to interpret recipes. Pre-requisite for Cert 2.

  Information Technology

Provides training in the basic skills of operating a personal computer, word processing application, spreadsheet application, database application, presentation package and web browsers and email.

This course is usually undertaken by Year 10 students at Snowtown AS as part of an IT subject.  Depending on  the students' prior learning and ability levels the course usually takes less time than a whole semester to complete.
